How to Measure Restaurant Email Marketing Results

Choose the action the email asked for, then keep delivery, clicks, reservations, cancellations and actual visits as separate facts.

Choose a meaningful measure

Swipe the table horizontally to see every column.

MeasureWhat it can showWhat it cannot prove
DeliveredMessages accepted by recipients’ mail systemsEvery person saw or read the email
Unique clicksPeople recorded clicking the target linkA restaurant visit happened
Tracked reservationsBookings attached to a trackable routeEach booking is a new customer
Visits or redemptionsA directly observed actionThe email caused all of those actions

One hypothetical campaign record

Swipe the table horizontally to see every column.

SentDeliveredUnique clickersTracked bookingsCanceledObserved visits
1,00098049826

49 unique clickers ÷ 980 delivered = 5%. Six observed visits are not automatically six guests or six additional purchases.

Read the numbers carefully

Opens are a weak signal

Privacy protection can alter open records. Do not judge a campaign on opens alone.

Automated activity can distort counts

Security scans may inflate opens or clicks; check platform definitions.

Reservations can be canceled

Record bookings, cancellations and actual arrival separately.

Attribution is limited

A tracked action is observable, but it may not be incremental.
